Jamie's Corner: The Woman who Forgot

What is Jamie’s Corner?

Jamie's Corner is a humorous look at life, in particular my life.

In the movies, I am not the elegant lady that walks down the stairs and charms her guests with grace and beauty. I am the one that trips on her gown, spills wine on her new dress and tries to carry on a conversation with spinach stuck in between her teeth. Years ago, it used to affect my sense of self and make my depression worse. But I no longer see it that way. A writer once told me anything that does not go smoothly in life makes for a good story. I agree. And I have lots of stories.

My story this week is Jamie and The Woman who Forgot

I was never one to have an amazing memory. Even in my early years, I probably wouldn’t have been chosen to be on a television game show or to play a friendly game of trivial pursuit. But lately I have forgotten names and information that I have known for years. It is not critical information, usually just names of actors or places, but it can be frustrating when someone’s name is on the tip of your tongue, but you just can’t quite remember it. I feel like I’m playing Pictionary, but with myself.

This is what it would look like if I had a conversation with myself:

Do you remember that funny movie about the cop who was trying to stop the assassination of Queen Elizabeth?

Oh, yes. That sounds familiar. What was that actor’s name?

I don’t remember but he was also in the movie about the airplane. I just can’t remember the name of that movie.

He was also in a movie about Dracula.

Oh, yeah, I remember that. By the way, what do you want for lunch?

I’m thinking about a hamburger.

Where at?

You know, the place on the corner that is always busy?

Which one?

You know, the one that only serves hamburgers and fries.

Yes, that place is good. While you are out, could you stop by the grocery store that has the drinks I like?

Which one?

I can’t remember the name but it’s next door to the gym you joined but never attended.

Sure, no problem. Anything else?

Before I forget to tell you, they’re doing roadwork on that street so you may want to avoid it.

Which street?

You know, the street with the fast-food restaurant that has the golden arches. Lol, golden arches, like you died and went to heaven. Except I always thought heaven would have more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Yeah, met too. Is it the street that has the fast-food place named after the girl in pigtails? They have really good baked potatoes.

Yes, that street.

Ok, I’ll get going. Now, where did I put my cell phone?
