There is No Fear of Falling if You Have a Net to Catch You

There is no fear of falling if you have a net to catch you.

– Jamie Lynn Juniper

I never understood high wire trapeze artists who declined to use a net. No matter how good you are, no one is invincible. (Safety first 😀)

Two weeks ago, out of the blue, I started to have trouble thriving. Although it had been a while, I recognized the old familiar feeling washing over me. Like clouds before the rain, I knew a depressive episode was lurking just around the corner. But fortunately, I knew what to do; I had a "net" to catch me.

I went back to the 3 steps to thriving. They are part of my safety net. Also, in my toolbox, is nutrition, sleep, and fun. I drank enough water, I made sure that I ate well (I will go into what I eat in another article), and I tried to get extra sleep. These are easy things to do but can be challenging to keep on top of if you have a hectic lifestyle. I also include something for fun- I watch a movie (nothing too dark), listen to music or read.

I kept the monster at bay. Five days later I was backed to my thriving self!

Hello! I am Jamie- a nurse, a wife, and a mother (of 2 great kids and 3 amazing dogs). I have also lived with chronic illness, including chronic depression, since I was a teenager. Many years later, I now thrive with my depression rather than simply survive. I started this blog to share info and my experience with severe, chronic depression because I want YOU to thrive as well!
