The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night's sleep

“The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.” – E. Joseph Cossman

How I feel each day makes a big difference in my outlook. If I feel alright physically and get a full night's sleep, my large to do list does not seem so daunting. I have more patience and I am more focused. If I encounter issues, I am confident that a solution will present itself.
But, deprive me of sleep, and everything feels a little bit harder. Rather than walking on a nicely paved road, I feel like I am trudging through quicksand. Solutions to problems don't come as quickly and sometimes I feel like a deer in highlights.

Getting a full night's sleep is difficult for many people. But even small improvements in your quantity and quality of sleep will help. Try something different to find out what works for you. It may mean making a change in your everyday life such as decreasing caffeine or turning off the television sooner. But it will be worth it!

Hello! I am Jamie- a nurse, a wife, and a mother (of 2 great kids and 3 amazing dogs). I have also lived with chronic illness, including chronic depression, since I was a teenager. Many years later, I now thrive with my depression rather than simply survive. I started this blog to share info and my experience with severe, chronic depression because I want YOU to thrive as well!
