Show me the $$$: Interrogated by the FBI

Welcome back to Show me the $$$
. If this is your first time, feel free to review prior Show Me the $$$ article posts.

When it comes to money, a big issue is what I call "leaks in the boat." You don't know exactly where your money goes. You might have subscriptions you forgot about. You might be spending more on groceries than you realize. In other words, you wouldn't stand up to an FBI Interrogation.

FBI - Money Team: Mrs. Smith, we just want to ask you a few questions.

Um, do I need to have my accountant present?

FBI - Money Team: Oh, no ma'am, we just want to ask you a few basic questions.
Can you please tell us how much you paid in groceries and food last week?

I'm not sure. Maybe $250 or $300?

FBI - Money Team: Well, which is it?

I really don't know. I just don't remember.

FBI - Money Team
: Ok, let's start with a simpler question. How much do you pay for a gallon of almond milk?

Maybe $4? I just usually buy it at an inexpensive grocery store.

FBI - Money Team: Well, if you don't know how much you paid for it, how would you know if it went on sale?

Uh, maybe if it says it's on sale?

FBI - Money Team: It doesn't sound like you know much of anything Mrs. Smith. Maybe it is time you call your accountant and we're going to refer you to the CIA?

Wait, what?

FBI - Money Team: The Create an Individual Assessment bureau. They will help you create a budget. But, if that doesn't work, then you will have to go wait in line at the DMV.

No, I'm not going there. I don't think I could handle that. Besides, what does this have to do with my driver's license?

FBI - Money Team
: Driver's license? I don't know what you're talking about ma'am. The DMV is the Department of Monetary Value. They'll also be able to do a budget for you, but you may have to wait in line for help.

Am I free to leave?

FBI - Money Team: Yes, Mrs. Smith, you can leave. But we don't want to see you back here again. We want you to go get your finances in order. If not, well we may have to notify the IRS?

The Internal Revenue Service?

FBI - Money Team: What? No, the Incompetent Resources Sector.
