In the movies, I am not the elegant lady that walks down the stairs and charms her guests with grace and beauty. I am the one that trips on her gown, spills wine on her new dress and tries to carry on a conversation with spinach stuck in between her teeth. Years ago, it used to affect my sense of self and make my depression worse. But I no longer see it that way. A writer once told me anything that does not go smoothly in life makes for a good story. I agree. And I have lots of stories.

My story this week: Trouble for Santa
We get excited at Christmas time; waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. It does not matter that we are all over the age of 18 and, yes, we KNOW about Santa Claus. But we can enjoy the magic of the season. There is one problem; we are all night owls. This can mean trouble for Santa!
Buddy the Elf: Uh, Santa, they are all still awake.
Santa: But it is 11:00pm. People know they need to be in bed by 10:00pm so that I can start my deliveries! Ok, let's go to a few more houses and come back here later.
James: Mom, I heard something for a second on the roof.
Jamie: Nah, I am sure it was nothing. We are watching a movie; do you want to join us?
James: Oh sure, I can finish playing Persona 5 later.
Santa: Ok Rudolph let's head back to the Juniper House. I am sure they will be asleep now; it is almost 1am.
Buddy the Elf: Santa, I hate to tell you this, but they are still awake.
Santa: What? This is my second time stopping here. Don't they want their Christmas gifts?
Buddy the Elf: You know the holiday season; people are up longer and doing more activities.
Santa: I guess you are right. Ok, let's head on over to China and Vietnam. We'll come back in a few hours.
Jamie: That was a good movie. Ok, it's 1:00am. I better get some sleep; we have many fun activities planned for tomorrow.
James: I plan to stay up another few hours to finish part of my game.
Jamie: Ok, can you check on grandpa? He is till up and watching Jurassic Park again.
James: Ok, I will.
Santa: Ok Vixen, we finished Asia, Africa, and Europe. Let's see if we can finally deliver the presents to the Junipers. They made the good list this year!
Buddy the Elf: Ok, it is 4:00am and everyone is finally asleep. Let's go in. You know Santa, the Easter Bunny told that one year he had to deliver the baskets at 7:00am.
Santa: Wow, that is unreal, I am glad we get to finally deliver their presents. And I hope they left out the dark chocolate chip cookies this year.
